At that next networking event, be sure you are thinking like a Successful Connector, here’s why!

We have all walked into a networking event and within minutes we can spot the “go to person”

They are in their element. They seem to know everyone, and everyone genuinely wants to chat with them. You may think – lucky for them it comes so easy to them, however successful connectors take a lot of time to plan, strategize and follow through on their efforts. They build trust within their network and showcase their value in honest and authentic ways.

Connectors are master networkers, they take networking to a higher level. Connectors see their network as their most valuable asset and over time they become the “go to trusted source”.

Judy Robinett, the author of How to Be a Power Connector: The 5+50+150 Rule, helps us become powerful connectors with these 4 key beliefs.

  1. All business relationships are relationships first – Relationships are about building connections with others who feel you have their best interests at heart, and vice versa. Create relationships on a deeper level – Get to know them, their likes, dislikes, hobbies, family. Spark an exciting connection through a common interest.
  2. Relationships are about giving and receiving value – Power connecting is based upon consistently adding value to other people. Don’t focus on what you are receiving, focus on what you are giving and watch the magic happen! Like every relationship in life there needs to be balance in the giving and receiving process. Giving starts the receiving process
  3. Relationships must be authentic on both sides – People must know you, like you, and trust you before they will do business with you, to build trust you must be authentic, honest, and trustworthy. Your network is your most prized possession; make sure it’s composed of only the best individuals. Focus on a who you want in your network, be picky it’s a reflection of you and your business.
  4. To be successful, your network must be wide, deep, and robust – The true power of business relationships often comes from connecting people from diverse spheres with each other. Step out of your comfort zone – connect with people of all industries. This gives you access to information and opportunities you would never have otherwise.

If you want to be a powerful connector it takes time, effort and working consistently on putting the right puzzle pieces together.

Be authentic and genuine.

Be focused and goal- oriented.

Be passionate and positive.

You can take your business to the next level if you focus,  get out there and follow through!
